The Eastern Classic Arabian Horse Show is pleased to announce that Margaret K Boyce will be the Sport Horse In Hand and Under Saddle Judge for Region 16 Classes, as well as the Dressage and Western Dressage Judge for both Region 13 an Region 16.
At 17, Margaret began her formal dressage training in Vancouver, Canada with Dressage Canada Hall of Fame Inductee – Dietrich Von Hopffgarten, coach to numerous American & Canadian Dressage Team members. After finishing her Associate Arts Degree in Graphic Arts & Communication, she left that career and became one of Dietrich’s working students and taught for several years at Southland Riding Club in Vancouver, North America’s only designated, urban-based equestrian community. She was then recruited for the Barn Manager position at Country Quest Stable where Alois Podhajsky, Head Trainer of the Spanish Rider School frequently taught at.
While managing Country Quest, Margaret obtained her Equestrian Canada National Coaches Status and her EC Official Dressage Judges Status. On horses she trained, she won numerous Canada Dressage Owner & Riders Assoc. (equivalent to USDF) Rider & Horse awards Basic – Advanced levels, several British Columbia Dressage Championships & Reserve Championships, and a Canadian National Dressage Title. Also being active behind the scenes, Margaret was Senior Representative & Provincial Director of BC CADORA; Show Manager for The BC Provincial Dressage Championship and chaired a Canadian National Dressage Championships which was first Federation Equestrian Internationale FEI – CDI World Cup Qualifier, west of Toronto .
To further her advance dressage education, Margaret moved to Europe and accepted two working student positions; the first in the Netherlands with Bert Rutten, Member/Coach of the Dutch Olympic Dressage Team; the second in Germany with Reitmeister Johann Hinnemann -Coach to the German/Dutch & Canadian Olympic Dressage Teams, Individual Bronze – World Dressage Championships. Margaret then traveled to Saumur, France and rode with Colonel Christian Carde, Head Trainer of the Cadre Noir at The French National Riding School. After marriage, Margaret settled in NJ, raised a family and formed MKB Dressage, a freelance teaching/training business and frequently organizing Carde clinics throughout the USA. Margaret currently trains with retired FEI 5 * Judge Lilo Fore; Olympic Individual Gold Medalist Christine Stuckelberger and in 2020, began training with USEF Olympic Para Dressage Team Coach Michel Assouline, and is working towards becoming a USEF Certified Para Equestrian Dressage Coach and EC Para Dressage Judge.
