Carol Bishop has ridden since childhood; everything from hunt seat to racetrack babies. Her education in dressage took off when she rode at the American Dressage Institute (along with Lendon Gray, Robert Dover, Michael Poulin etc.) under the training of Colonel Bengt Ljungquist. She continued with Michael Poulin, solidifying her grand prix at an international level.
She had the opportunity to ride at Jerez (Spain’s national training center) and in Portugal, becoming a student of Nuno Oliveira. She has also owned her own farm, shown in dressage through Grand Prix, evented through Prelim and became an “R” dressage judge. In Germany, a long time association with Reiner Klimke included training, buying trips, shows and a host of wonderful experiences with this icon of dressage.
Carol’s background and unique teaching abilities allow her to easily assess the rider and horse’s needs. She communicates as easily with beginners as with FEI riders. Her thirty years of judging is a huge plus for competitors at all levels. She is endlessly enthusiastic in helping riders to obtain the best balance with clearest communication with their horse.
