AHANY Open Futurity
The AHANY Open Futurity is a non-profit program for yearling Purebred and Half Arabian horses. The mare is nominated before the foal is born and the resulting foal is re-nominated and shown in a special class at the annual Eastern Classic horse show.
ELIGIBILITY
- Anyone living in New York State may nominate a foal.
- Any member of AHANY regardless of the place of residence may nominate a foal.
NOMINATION
- Please be sure to use the correct nomination form. You must include the mares name, registration number, stallion name, approximate foaling date and the $30.00 nomination fee.
- Make all checks or money orders payable to AHANY Futurity.
NOMINATION DUE DATE
- Mares should be nominated by December 31st prior to the foaling year.
- Mares may be nominated after January 1st of the foaling year, as long as they meet with the following conditions:
- The mare has not yet foaled (prior to nomination)
- The mare owner includes an additional $10 late fee (total nomination fee-$40.)
RE-NOMINATION
- The foal is re-nominated as a weanling and again as a yearling, at a cost of $30.00 each time. These re-nominations are due no later than April 15th of each year. AHANY will match the $30.00 fee paid in the weanling year as an added bonus toward the prize money.
- Absolutely NO re-nomination accepted after the due date!
SHOWING AND JUDGING
- The resulting foals will be shown as yearlings in a special class at the annual Eastern Classic Horse show.
- The Purebred yearlings will be judged at halter and will be judged in two separate divisions, as purebred fillies and purebred colts and geldings. Half Arabians will be shown together in once class unless entries warrant the class being split.
- The is no entry fee for the futurity classes. However, all other horse show fees must be paid, such as grounds, stalls, drugs etc.
PAYBACK
- This is a nonprofit futurity. All the fees paid into the futurity are kept separate according to group (purebred and half Arabian), then split as to placing and paid out to the first 5 places in each group.
- Additional funds may be added by the club as voted by the AHANY Board.
- Payback is by check and sent by mail after the completion of the horse show. Prize money is determined by dividing the jackpot for each class as follows:
First 30% + Ribbon
Second 25% + Ribbon
Third 20% + Ribbon
Fourth 15% + Ribbon
Fifth 10% + Ribbon
- in the event that there are not 5 entries shown, the remainder of the money will be split equally among all the entries.
- The only deductions from fees are for postage, ribbons, etc., to maintain the Futurity
- If you sell a horse that is up to date in the futurity, please inform the new owner as to the horse’s eligibility to continue the futurity. The horse remains eligible as long as the new owner is a resident of the New York State or is an AHANY member. Please forward payment reminder notices to the new owner.
All payments and correspondence should be sent directly to the Futurity Chairperson.
